Telehealth
Do you need support, but can’t make it to an in-person appointment? Are you a busy professional, caregiver, or parent, and don’t have the time to drive across town for an appointment?
Do you live in a more rural area or across the state where an online therapy session makes the most sense?
Or, maybe you prefer the ease, convenience, and added confidentiality to just do things Virtually?
If so, we can help you through virtual therapy, or telehealth.
Telehealth allows us to provide counseling and therapy to you through live video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have a computer or smartphone.
Telehealth appointments can be very beneficial if getting to a traditional in-person appointment is not convenient, or you simply just don’t want to.
Our telehealth solution allows you to schedule an appointment directly online and have the entire therapy session take place digitally.
Why choose online therapy in North Carolina or Virginia with me?
Your life is busy and you need a convenient solution for managing life’s ups and downs. Teletherapy is a great resource for those who desire added convenience, quality, and privacy as they get the support they need.
Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, virtual therapy, telebehavioral health, or distance counseling, is a safe and effective method of connecting with a therapist from a location of your convenience using an internet connection.
Backed by a plethora of research studies, online therapy is an effective method of delivering psychotherapy to help you reach your therapeutic goals, whether in the short term or long term.
How is an online therapy session typically conducted?
Our sessions are conducted over a secure, HIPAA compliant platform that has the benefit of online scheduling for your convenience. I conduct our sessions from a comfortable, private office to provide a high-quality and confidential experience.
The platform I use is Simple Practice, a leader in psychotherapy telehealth practice software. Their internet-based platform allows you to conveniently schedule, pay for, and join all your sessions from a user-friendly interface.
You can easily join from a desktop, tablet, or laptop that is equipped with speakers, a good internet connection, and a camera or webcam. You may also wish to download the app to your smartphone to hold sessions on the go if you choose.
To enhance your privacy, clients are encouraged to log in from a private, distraction-free area, with a good connection and no guests in the room to allow for open dialogue and engagement.
Once we connect, I’ll go over consent for services that will include things such as verification of identity and location, safety, privacy, and back-up contacts in the event of interrupted internet service to name a few. We’ll get to know each other and explore how our work together will help you reach the goals or concerns you are interested in exploring.
Who is online therapy most suited for?
Most clients who seek traditional in-office therapy are well suited for the online therapy environment. Adult women residing in North Carolina or Virginia are welcome to reach out to me for services.
Clients who are in crisis, or who are at risk for harm to self or others are better suited for an in-office experience for more intensive services and wrap around support and stabilization.
I will discuss your needs and goals for therapy to better assist you in determining if our online space is the best fit for your needs.
Will my insurance cover online therapy?
During the pandemic, many insurance companies authorized payment for some or all therapy sessions conducted online. However, not all insurances cover distance therapy and many carriers may decide to discontinue paying for online services once the pandemic stabilizes.
I do not contract with insurance panels in order to offer my clients the highest level of care, convenience, and privacy that is not limited by number of sessions or diagnostic codes.
I would encourage clients who may be interested in out-of-network benefits, to contact their insurance carrier on what may be needed for possible reimbursement. I will provide my clients with a super bill for the convenience of insurance filing. For more questions, please see my Rates and Insurance page.
I’m interested in online therapy, so what do I do next?
